The Most Pioneering Technologies in Sanitary Pad Production

As a woman, I think sanitary pads are an essential part of feminine hygiene. They are easy to use, widely accessible and reasonably straightforward. Not forgetting, pads are also noninvasive which is why most women find them comforting to use. The product effectively absorbs and retains menstrual fluid without causing leakage. It ensures good freshness and comfort during that ‘time of the month’. While sanitary pads are typically used to control menstrual flow, they are also effective in managing other kinds of body fluids.

Over the years, there has been immense evolution in the way pads have been produced. Innovations have ensured a much effective design that protects for long hours. Not too long ago, sanitary pads were made from simple cotton. And before that, they were nothing like we know them today. The earliest commercial pads were mostly rectangular and made from cotton wool. The wool was typically covered with an absorbent liner that was again made from cotton wool. However, better technology brought in a shift in the type of material being used in sanitary pads.

Some of the notable pioneering technologies used in the production of sanitary pads include:

Gumming Machine: Gumming machines were introduced to make the process of manufacturing pads quicker and more effective. The machine is used to stick together the different layers of the pad. Initially, sanitary pads were made with a few layers of cotton wool and a top absorbent layer. However, pads are now manufactured with advanced absorbent layers sandwiched between several sheets. The gumming machine helps glue together the different layers and secure the pad.

Mixer with Pulverizer: The introduction of absorbent wood cellulose needed the use of a mixer with pulverizer. This technology aids in shredding the cellulose so it can be flattened to make a thin absorbent core. The mixer with pulverizer has indeed been a crucial pioneering technology in the production of sanitary pads.

UV Treated Sterilizer: As the name suggests, UV treated sterilizers are used to sterilize the pad and make it safe for use. It ensures that the pad does not contain any contaminant or bacteria that can pose a health risk. Sanitary pads are treated for a given time in a UV treated sterilizing machine before deemed fit for use.

Renowned manufacturers used fully automatic sanitary manufacturing machines for production. These machines involve no to minimal human assistance. The machines carry out every step from the production of the core to the assembling of the different layers. The pioneering technologies used in sanitary pad production have indeed improved the effectiveness of the product. Advanced innovation has made it easier for women to function throughout the day with much comfort.
